Our Beliefs |
1. The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, teaching us the truth about God, life and ourselves. 2 Tim. 3:16,17; 2 Pet. 1:21; Mt. 5:18 2. There is one God, the Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, who is perfect in all His attributes. He exists eternally in three distinct yet equal persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14 3. God created people, male and female, in His own image to fellowship with Him in obedience and manage the rest of creation to His glory. Gen. 1:26-28 4. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned against God thus losing their ability to know, love and please Him. All of us are born and live as sinners and apart from God's salvation, are subject to His eternal conscious judgment for our sin. Gen. 2:15-17; Rom. 5:12; Rom. 3:23 5. Salvation is a gift - free and irrevocable - based on Jesus Christ's substitutionary death for our sins and bodily resurrection. We receive it by trusting Christ alone as our Savior. Eph. 2:8,9; Rom. 5:8; John 1:12; 1 Pet. 2:24 I Cor. 15:1-4 6. Everyone who trusts in Christ enjoys complete forgiveness of sins, the gift of eternal life, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who enables us to obey and serve the Lord. Col. 2:13; John 3:16; Eph. 1:13,14 7. The universal church is made up of all who trust in Christ as their Savior. Each local church, as well as every Christian, is responsible to help fulfill Christ's Great Commission to make disciples of all peoples & His Great Commandment to love God and others. 1Cor. 12:13; Mt. 22:34-40; 28:19, 20; 1 Pet. 2:9,10 8. Water baptism is an outward symbol of the inward reality of salvation and union with Christ, thus, only those who have trusted Christ as their Savior are eligible. We practice baptism by immersion, which pictures our union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Water baptism does not wash away sins, nor is it a condition for salvation. However, it is a vital part of Christian discipleship. Acts 10:47,48; 16:30-33;18:7,8; Rom. 6:3-5; Titus 3:5 9. The Lord's Supper commemorates the Lord's death on the cross for our sins. The bread represents the body of our Lord that was offered on the cross for sins. The cup represents the blood of our Lord that was shed for the remission of our sin. The Lord's Supper is open to any believer who has carefully examined his/her walk with the Lord. Mt. 26:26-30; I Cor. 11:23-32 10. The Holy Spirit has gifted every believer with at least one spiritual gift to equip the church to mutually edify itself in the faith. Thus, in a very real sense every believer is a minister. The local church is only healthy when all of the members are serving God according to their giftedness. I Cor. 12:7-11; Rom. 12:3-8; Eph. 4:1-16; 1 Pet. 4:10,11; 1 Cor. 12:31-13:13; 1 Cor. 14:18-20 11. We believe in that "Blessed Hope," the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of each believer. 1 Thes. 4:13-18; Zech. 14:4-11; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:1-6; 1 Thes. 1:10; Rev. 3:10 |
